I discovered today there are a couple of guys in our IT department who play Dungeons & Dragons, and have spent this afternoon trying to convince me to join them. Not really my kind of thing but their passion was definitely enjoyable.

They were trying to decide what alignment I would be. I looked at them very blankly because quite frankly, I didn't have a clue. Possibly they were speaking Klingon...

But no, it seems your character's alignment is central to a D&D character's personality. D&D uses two measures to determine a specific character's ethical and moral attitudes and behaviour.

The moral axis has three positions: good, neutral and evil. Good characters generally care about the welfare of others. Neutral people generally care about their own welfare. Evil people generally seek to harm the others' welfare.

The ethical axis has three positions as well: lawful, neutral, and chaotic. Lawful people generally follow the social rules as they understand them. Neutral people follow those rules find convenient or obviously necessary. And chaotic people seek to upset the social order and either institute change, or simply create anarchy.

For some reason I actually agreed to take this... personality test type thing that would tell them about my character's view of right and wrong.
And the survey said:
Chaotic Good
A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he’s kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit.
Sounds pretty accurate, actually. Although you still won't find me playing Dungeons & Dragons! ;)

Today has been a day of lists. Sometimes I'm able to organise myself, sometimes I need to write a to-do list... and some days I need multiple ones. Today has definitely been one of the latter. Between going on holiday with Jade Rachel earlier in the month and the long weekend we've just had for Easter I've been feeling more than a little discombobulated.

I am now feeling a litle accomplished so I'm taking a moment to celebrate a couple of small victories. Go me!

I still need to chase a couple of content writers. Deadline is Thursday and I've heard nothing from them. Feeling a little concerned.

I would love to go to the cinema. I want to see Batman Vs Superman. As does Jade Rachel so I'm thinking date night (if we can get a babysitter). Jade Rachel and Caden Bryce also want to see Zootopia.
I'm really hoping superheroes win here!

I need to do laundry. I hate doing laundry. It's probably my least favourite chore. I want to be able to pay for someone to do it for me. That would be a wonderful luxury.

I think I have an 'About Me' page for my website that I'm pretty pleased with. Thank you, all, for your tips and advice. It was very much appreciated.

It goes some thing like this )

Please do let me know what you think - all constructive criticism welcomed :)

Who am I?

I've had this blank 'about me' page for my website open all morning with the cursor flashing at me but I haven't been able to get any further than Hi, I'm Eireann. That's usually all I say to start with. I've never really sat down to introduce myself at length before. I can tell you why you should hire me, but that's not really appropriate here.

I then decided to do what all self-respecting people do when they need to do something they don't know how to do. I asked Google. But Google just wanted to tell me about how to get paid for blogging, or how to write a professional about me page for a corporate site. Again, not really my intention here.

Google was, however, very insistent that this page is very important and should be interesting, original, unique.
So, I shouldn't just go
Hi, I'm Eireann. I'm 40 years old and I live in London.
I've been married to Jade Rachel since March 2015 and we have two children Regan and Caden Bryce.
I have a twin brother called Brody.
I work as a Graphic Designer for Flight Centre, I have a BA (Hons) Fine Art & History of Art and an MA Digital Arts (Visual Arts)
I believe in God. I drink too much coffee (and vodka) and eat too much take out. I support Arsenal FC, I love Disney movies, my favourite band is The Beatles and my favourite movie is Casablanca

You would think as an artistic/creative type this would be easy. I'm not a 'words' person though!

Today I am ostensibly working from home. If you take 'working by home' to mean 'watching Doctor Who with the kids*'. [personal profile] vanillamagick has a hospital appointment this morning - nothing serious, don't worry - one of those appointments that takes 6 months to get. Of course, normally that wouldn't be a problem because Regan would have been at school and she'd have taken Caden Bryce to the hospital with her. Except poor Regan has a chest infection and is off school sick. I didn't want Jade Rachel to miss her appointment so I've stayed at home with them.

I'd forgotten how much I loved the new-Who when it first started. Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. The poor Ninth Doctor, his love for apes and Rose's adventure of a lifetime. Slitheen. Daleks. Captain Jack. Daleks. Autons. Cassandra. Bad Wolf.

I'd like to remain off work long enough to marathon all of new-Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane. And maybe all of classic Who as well. I'm sure work won't mind if I explain my need to re-watch, right? haha

Speaking of the kids, Regan's joined Dreamwidth and her account is [personal profile] glitterangel so please be gentle with her!

* There really needs to be an easier way to say 'my girlfriend's son and step-daughter', but there isn't so 'my kids' will have to suffice!

I have itchy feet, or maybe it's spring fever. I feel like I've been in one place for too long. The same apartment. The same job. The same hair style. The same wardrobe.

I caught myself looking at jobs overseas, wondering what it would be like to just up and go somewhere, anywhere, that isn't here. Just relocate and do something different, somewhere different. A complete blank slate. A chance for new everything.

It's such an exciting prospect.
Not one that I can actually do though. A few years ago, I would have just done it. Just picked up and gone. But now? Not so much. For once, I actually have ties, a reason to stay. (Of course, if Jade Rachel was willing to relocate with me, that would be a different matter).

A change is as good as a break. Maybe I need to redecorate, or look around at different apartments. Send my resume out to a few places. Go to a hair salon and get a new hair cut and/or colour. Buy myself new clothes. Get a make over.

Or just go on holiday... somewhere that's not dreary and grey. That sounds nice. Where's nice this time of year?
